MP Baldinelli named Shadow Minister for Manufacturing and Export Promotion

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA, ON - Tony Baldinelli, Member of Parliament for the riding of Niagara Falls, has been re-appointed to the Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet by Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole. Baldinelli will serve as Shadow Minister for Manufacturing and Export Promotion.

“I am humbled and honoured to have been named to this important role. The manufacturing and exporting of Canadian goods and services are critically important to the strength and growth of our Canadian economy,” said Baldinelli.

“Domestic manufacturing is especially needed right now for a speedy and strong economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic”, said Baldinelli. “In addition, new export opportunities will help create additional good paying Canadian jobs, which in turn, will further accelerate our domestic manufacturing capacity in Canada.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has challenged Canada’s manufacturing sectors by causing supply chain issues and limiting key components that are needed by various sectors to create products, here at home. Consequently, the limited supply of goods has raised consumer prices higher, at a time when inflation and federal taxation are increasing under reckless fiscal policies being implemented by the Trudeau Liberals.

“The federal government has a role to play in helping the manufacturing sector to recover, in order to create new jobs in Canada, while forging new export opportunities abroad. Canada’s Conservatives will hold the Trudeau Liberals to account on these important issues, and I look forward to doing my part in this new role”, said Baldinelli.

As a university student, Baldinelli worked at the local General Motors plant in St. Catharines. During his time there, Baldinelli became acutely aware of the important role manufacturing has for local jobs and the Niagara economy.

“I look forward to working with stakeholders from across our great country, as well as with our Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole, and my parliamentary colleagues, to help achieve a speedy and strong economic recovery in Canada from the COVID-19 pandemic through our manufacturing sector and export promotion opportunities,” he concluded.
