FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 February 17, 2021

OTTAWA, ON – On Tuesday February 16, Tony Baldinelli, the Member of Parliament for Niagara Falls and Special Advisor to the Conservative Leader on Tourism Recovery was named as a new member to sit on the House of Commons Standing Committee of Industry, Science and Technology.

According to the House of Commons Committees Branch, the Industry, Science and Technology committee, which uses the acronym INDU, studies and reports on legislation and the activities and spending of the members of the Innovation, Science and Economic Development portfolio, and other issues related to industry and technology capability, scientific research and development, telecommunications policy, investment, trade, small business and tourism, and rules and services that support the effective operation of the marketplace.

The committee is currently undertaking a study on the Domestic Manufacturing Capacity for a COVID-19 Vaccine.

“I am very pleased to join this important committee and I look forward to working with my colleagues as we tackle critical issues in the areas of industry, science and technology,” said Baldinelli. “At a time when we need this government to succeed, the Trudeau government has badly mismanaged our vaccine response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The only way forward is by securing vaccines, securing jobs, and securing our future. That includes identifying and better understanding the domestic capability we have in Canada to manufacture a COVID-19 vaccine.”

INDU meets every week when the House is sitting on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11am-1pm EST. Interested viewers can watch it for free on Parlvu, which is Parliament’s live streaming service of parliamentary activities.
